The David Dyson Interview

The first Up 2 the WIRE interview featured phenomenal bassist David Dyson. For those who may not be familiar with him, let me give you an introduction. He is the former bassist and musical director of the New Kids on the Block, a composer, arranger, producer and solo recording artist. This guy has an extensive resume which includes performing with Meshell Ndegeocello, George Duke, Regina Bell, Jonathan Butler, Najee, Candy Dulfer, Rick Braun, Gerald Albright, Norman Brown, Bobby Lyle, Doc Powell, Michael Franks, and Chuck Brown to name a few. He is the bassist for Pieces of a Dream and currently performs with Walter Beasley, Lalah Hathaway, Peter White, and a number of bands in the Washington, DC area. On top of all that, he is one of the most generous and down to earth artist I have had the privilege of meeting. When I asked him to be a part of The WIRE-4 Artists he didn’t hesitate to say yes. Did I mention that he has his own signature basses? Yep, the Skjold David Dyson/Lohandfunk fretted and fretless (skjolddesign). In my opinion, he is the Bruce Lee of bass players. So I am giving props to the “Lohandfunk” bass man.

Peace & Blessings
